Parent Tell
To The Ones Who Keep It Real
Show Notes

This week on Parent Tell, Kaila chats with another honest mum from across the pond, Rebecca Oxtoby. Rebecca is an award-winning British author. Her book series, Mum's The Word, has won Best Gift for Mum at the Project Baby Awards 2021, and documents life with a newborn, in all its sh*t-stained glory. Rebecca’s books speak truthfully about new mum life, post-natal depression, and the expectations of motherhood vs reality. Obviously a match made in mom friend heaven, Kaila and Rebecca talk at length about the importance of being honest when it comes to tackling motherhood (also toddlerhood, WOOF), navigating relationships and friendships while parenting, and being vulnerable enough to put their brutally honest thoughts and feelings out there for the world to consume. In a society that somehow STILL expects birthing people and parents to put on a happy face 24/7 and only talk of the sunshine and rainbows of raising humans, it's as vital as ever that people like Kaila and Rebecca continue to lead with honesty and inclusivity.

Rebecca supports other mums through her Instagram page @BookMumstheWord and both of her books, Mum's The Word: The Sh*t Nobody Tells You About Parenthood Until It's Too Late and Mum's The Word 2: It's All Sh*ts And Giggles are available on Amazon and Good Reads.
